Mehmet GUMUSTAS is an Associate Professor at Ankara University, Institute of Forensic Sciences, Department of Forensic Toxicology. He received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ankara University.

His research primarily focuses on separation sciences and sample preparation, particularly liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and supercritical fluid chromatography. His research interests include the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods for pharmaceutical, bioanalytical, clinical, and forensic applications, with particular expertise in the separation and determination of chiral and achiral compounds and their metabolites in complex matrices. His current research also addresses miniaturized and sustainable sample preparation approaches, green analytical chemistry, and the integration of sample preparation with advanced separation techniques.

Dr. GUMUSTAS has authored or co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed scientific publications and several book chapters in the fields of analytical, pharmaceutical, and forensic sciences. His publications have received more than 1,850 citations in Scopus, with an h-index of 24. Beyond his research activities, he is actively involved in the international analytical chemistry community through editorial responsibilities, scientific working groups, and international collaborations. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, Scientific Reports, the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, and the Current Pharmaceutical Design furthermore he is a member of the Bioanalytical Group and the Sample Preparation Group within the Division of Analytical Chemistry of EuChemS. He has also contributed to the organization of international scientific meetings and maintains active collaborations with research groups in different countries in the areas of separation science, sample preparation, forensic, clinical and pharmaceutical analysis, as well as bioanalysis.
