Roccaldo Sardella

Roccaldo Sardella obtained his Master’s Degree in Chemistry (2002) and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (2007) from the University of Perugia, focusing his doctoral research on chiral separation by LC.

Between 2006 and 2010, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Perugia and completed research periods at the University of Vienna. He joined the Faculty of Pharmacy (now Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences) at the University of Perugia as Assistant Professor in 2011 (tenured in 2014) and served as Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry from 2017 to 2025. Since March 2025, he is Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the same institution.

Prof. Sardella is the author of > 155 international publications (Scopus H-index: 31) and 7 book chapters. He frequently presents at national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer for scientific journals.

He serves on the Academic Boards of Perugia’s Ph.D. program in Pharmaceutical Sciences and the 2nd-Level Master’s program in API Process Development. Additionally, he leads the Chemical and Toxicological Analysis Operating Unit at the Center for Perinatal and Reproductive Medicine (University of Perugia).

Active within the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), he was a Scientific Committee member for the Summer School in Pharmaceutical Analysis (2017–2022) and the RDPA conference (since 2015). He currently serves as Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Analysis Thematic Group of the Italian Chemical Society and sits on the International Relations Committee of the same Scientific Society.

In 2020 and 2023, Prof. Sardella obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Full Professorship in Medicinal Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, respectively.
