Prof. Sibel A. OZKAN has been serving as a Professor at Ankara University, Faculty of Pharmacy since 2003. She began her academic career at the same institution as a research assistant in 1986.
She represents the Turkish Chemical Society within the Analytical Chemistry Division of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS). Until 2026, she served as the Turkish representative for the Chromatography Section of the European Pharmacopeia (EDQM).
She is currently responsible for the Analytical Chemistry section of the Turkish Pharmacopeia for the 2023 and 2025 editions.
Her project portfolio includes three COST projects (one completed), two Horizon multi-consortium projects, and bilateral cooperation projects (Turkey-China). She is also involved in TÜBİTAK 1004 and TÜBİTAK 2244 Industry-University partnership projects.
Her primary research areas include: Electroanalytical Drug Analysis; Sensor development, including nanosensors, biosensors, and MIP (Molecularly Imprinted Polymer) sensors; Chromatographic and environmental Analysis; Green and sustainable analytical chemistry; and Method development and validation processes.
She has authored more than 525 articles indexed by ISI Web of Science. Her publications also include 12 international books and 75 international book chapters, and she maintains an h-index of 58.
She is the recipient of numerous national honors, such as the TÜSEB (Health Institutes of Türkiye) 2024 Science Special Award, the Turkish Pharmacists’ Association (TEB) Science Award, and the Ankara University Science Award. Internationally, she was honored with the Women Researcher Science Award from Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam, 2019.
European Patent: She holds a patent from the European Patent Office (Patent No: EP3887813) titled “BIOSENSOR OBTAINED FROM ALGAE BASED CARBON MATERIALS,” issued on December 10, 2025.
National/International Application: She has one national patent application (Patent No. 559781/2020-GE-615718; PCT/TR2020/18770).
She has been the Editor for the Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis (SCI) since 2019. She is the Section Editor for Essential Chemistry and the European Regional Editor for Current Pharmaceutical Analysis (SCI).
Additionally, she is a member of the Editorial Board for numerous journals, including: Trends in Analytical Chemistry (TrAC), Talanta, Chromatographia, Critical Reviews in Analytical Chemistry, Analytical Bioanalytical Chemistry, Electrochimica Acta, Microchemical Journal, and Advanced Sample Prep., Green Analytical Chemistry, Biosensors & Bioelectronics X, Journal of Chromatography Open, and Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis Open, etc.
